초록
A new type of dedicated outdoor air system is proposed: a liquid desiccant assisted dedicated outdoor air system that consists of a liquid desiccant system and indirect evaporative cooler. Its applicability to high-rise apartment buildings as a centralized ventilation system was investigated in this research. The waste heat of the organic Rankine cycle after the power-generation process was used as a heat source for the regeneration process in the liquid desiccant system. An existing dedicated outdoor air system that ventilates the target room with 100% outdoor air, which it dehumidifies, is used as a reference system to compare the energy benefit analysis. Novec 649 and a district heat source were used as the working refrigerant and heat source for the organic Rankine cycle, respectively. A 30-story model apartment building was selected in Seoul, Korea. The annual energy-consumption analysis was simulated by TRNSYS and EnergyPlus, and the proposed system energy consumption was compared with that of the existing dedicated outdoor air system. The result showed that the liquid desiccant assisted dedicated outdoor air system with organic Rankine cycle saved 36.4% primary energy compared with reference dedicated outdoor air system, despite receiving 2.69 times the energy demand. Consequently, the proposed system shows a greater energy benefit than the reference ventilation system, owing to the use of waste heat from the organic Rankine cycle.
