Interface Task Complexity with Memory Decay Function ; A relationship between the number of rehearsal and task complexity

초록

In user interface design, task complexity is traditionally measured by the number of actions and BNF (Bakus-Naur Form) rules for chunking actions that constitute an instructional command. In this paper, task complexity is measured by the level of memory recall on a memory decay function for each command over time. An empirical study suggested that as users did not perform a task frequently, its task complexity got higher as time passed, by which we derived an asymptotic task complexity model along with the number of rehearsal.
