세계적 사례 분석을 통해 본 생물테러의 보건학적 의의

초록

In accordance with the striking development of genetic engineering on microbes along with political complexities in the last century the threats of biowarfare/bioterrorism became a global problem. In this paper current situation of threats, preparedness and response to the anticipated events in developed countries are reviewed based on the incidents of biowarfare and bioterrorism that had occurred in various countries. It is an urgent issue to get ready for an appropriate response to any devastating event that could occur any time in Korea, whatever it could be apolitical or a crime purpose; collection of accurate information, organizing the inter-institutional or inter-ministry collaborative system at the governmental level, establishing infrastructure for surveillance and immediate response against the event, and developing strategies of public education and trainging.
