Japanese Characteristics and Implications of the Social Economy: Focusing on NPO

초록

The interest in the social economy as an alternative model of capitalism is increasing, because of the government's failure and market failure since 2000. In recent years, Japanese non-profit organizations (NPOs) have been leading these concerns and issues followed by traditional Cooperatives due to government support which includes tax benefits. However, it remains challenging for Japanese NPOs to ensure success in terms of qualitative growth in spite of quantitative growth in the short term. This is because there are many limitations as mentioned: managerial & financial instability, tax & donation limitations, opaque organization, a tightening of combined resources, etc. The social and economic development of Korea's ecosystem is similar to that of the Japanese NPOs in that they are faced with the same challenges. Qualitative growth necessitates the creation and operation of a successful Korean model based on Japan as a benchmark. This experiment is an alternative for the Korean community, which is not only a hypothesis but would lead to success.
