효율적인 장기구득 면담의 조건과 요인에 대한 코디네이터의 인식-질적 연구

The consent of the deceased's family for organ donation is decided in organ procurement interview. Therefore, one of the necessary conditions to increase the organ donation consent rate is to improve the interview performance of the organ procurement coordinator. Knowledge about the conditions and factors of an effective organ procurement interview is essential to improve the interview skill of the organ procurement coordinator. The purpose of this paper is to find out, based on qualitative research, the conditions and factors necessary to improve the organ procurement interviews of the coordinator and to increase the organ donation consent rate of the brain-dead patient’s family. The data for exploring the conditions and factors of an effective interview were collected through narrative interviews with 10 experienced organ procurement coordinators. The research data were analyzed through a qualitative research method. As a result of the analysis, 22 conditions and factors for an effective interview with the brain-dead patient’s family were found. They were classified into four categories. Medical staff-related conditions and factors include a sufficient explanation of brain death to the family. Coordinator-related conditions and factors include qualities and dispositions (experience and confidence, psychological stability, otherness, confidence in the meaning of organ donation, passion and dedication, flexibility), competence and performance (sufficient knowledge, communication skills, active listening and empathy, comprehension ability, and relationship building skills), and sufficient preparation (collecting as much information as possible, planning and rehearsing interviews, preparation of supplies for support) and appropriate environment creation (private interview space, comfortable atmosphere for the interview, sufficient interview time). It was found that the conditions and factors related to the family of the brain dead patient include understanding and acceptance of brain death, a positive perception of organ donation, and psychological stability. As a social condition and factor, there is a positive image of organ donation. The results of this study can be used as basic data for developing various educational programs and education for improving the interview skills of organ procurement coordinators.
