Efficient Visible Photoluminescence from Encapsulation of Fluorescent materials inside Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes.

The Photoluminescence (PL) spectrum of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) is found around near-IR range (950~1150nm). Another visible photoluminescence at 515 nm of ruthenium-doped multiwall carbon nanotubes was also reported. Here, we prepared 1-(2-amino-phenyl) naphthalene-2-ylamine (APNA) molecules (photoluminescent material) encapsulated-SWNTs (APNA@SWNT) by using self-assembly encapsulation method in vacuum. We measured UV/Vis spectroscopy of the APNA@SWNT. This APNA@SWNT showed strong absorption peak at 265 and 326nm. As result of PL of APNA@SWNT, we found strong visible luminescence at around 400nm at excitation of 265 and 326nm.
