Design Based on Generative System Using Genetic Algorithm

초록

At the early design stage, a designer would develop a design through reviewing various alternatives. However, the limitation of human information handling capacity would be an obstacle to makes various alternatives. A way to overcome the limitation is to create the alternatives with the design based on generative system concept with computer. We assume that generated alternatives by the generative system for design can help a designer find out new ideas of design solution through "Unexpected Discovery(UXD)" and detect new design requirement for design problem more effectively with assistance of the system. Even if the concept has the advantage, the generated countless alternatives make designer confused. For this, an optimization method to satisfy designer’s intention is required. This research suggests design based on generative system using genetic algorithm as optimization.
