초록
This study investigates the psychological mechanisms through which cultural and artistic activities attract young people to local communities, based on self-determination theory. Focusing on Seonam Art Village in Dong-gu, Gwangju, the study examines how participation motivations influence involvement, visit intention, and migration intention, while also comparing these relationships across different participation types. Survey data were collected from young artists and youth aged 19 to 39 and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) and multi-group analysis. The results indicate that intrinsic motivation positively influenced involvement, whereas extrinsic motivation did not. Involvement significantly affected both visit intention and migration intention, and visit intention further influenced migration intention. No significant differences were found across participation types. This study empirically demonstrates the process of relational population formation through psychological involvement and provides policy implications for culture- and arts-based youth attraction strategies in local communities.
