Spray Application Technology : Experimental Investigation on Jet Structure and Development Processes of CNG DI Injector using Acetone PLIF Technique

초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate jet structure and development processes of CNG DI injector using acetone PLIF technique. For this experiment, jet development images were captured by a CCD camera equipped with Nd:Yag laser with 266 nm. Acetone was known as a tracer because it has a very low boiling point of 329 K, a high saturation pressure of 24 kPa at 293 K, a good fluorescence yield, and low toxicity. Fluorescence signal of acetone was captured by the CCD camera with a time resolution of 2 us. The camera and Nd:yag laser were synchronized with the injection pulse so that the images correspond to the time after the start of injection. Results showed that at the initial stage of spray development, the spray shown as turbulent flow. In addition, it can be seen that the high fluctuation region of fuel concentration at the tip of the spray. It can be explained by the effect of surrounding air mixing process.
