A Study on the Patterns and Otherness of the Body Subject in Homosexuality Novels in the 2000s

초록

This study set out to focus on the “body” of homosexuality in short storieson homosexuality around 2000 and examine otherness identified in a processof love being reproduced through “body.” The “body” of sexuality forms a dualmeaning structure of denial and negation according to the dichotomous andhierarchical symbolic order that has regarded the body as a symmetrical pointof the mind. It is the point where one gets disillusioned about reality on theborder of the subject and others and has a fantasy for a new life through thedisillusionment. Differences caused through the “body” create gaps and cracks,at which moment others are able to escape from the power trying to lock themup and make a start with refusal and resistance. The “body” of homosexualitycan have its significance established as a symbolic representation to disturband overturn the modern thinking system. Formed according to the logic of sameness of the modern order, the ego gayreveals its ambivalence in a process of the incomplete, variable, and splittingsexual identity being endlessly reorganized as the body subject in discourse. Disclosed here is the epistemological violence in which others are excluded bythe universal values of sameness making an attempt at assimilation under asingle criterion. It deals with the issues of homosexuality in the process of thefemale body being otherized as an instrument by a patriarchal viewpoint, thusexploring the possibility of pluralistic harmony beyond gender difference anddiscrimination. Exercising love for others as the subject of eroticism “body,”homosexuality monopolizes female suppression under control and supervisionin the patriarchal system into the “body” excluded by the hierarchical dichotomyof mind/body and thus reveals subversion. “Sex” is a contact for communicationwith others and a body language to improve relationships. The rebellion of sexuality by sexual minorities that go against the traditional sexual love can be interpreted as an important motif to explore post-modernthinking and creation by promoting “the collapse of dichotomous borders” and“the coexistence of various differences.” Homosexual love shows othernessthrough the “body,” which is an action point of power that suppresses andcontrols both women and even men.
