Analysis on the Hazard Assessment for Steep Slopes Using the Terrestrial LiDAR and Statistical Scheme

초록

Disasters on steep slopes, including landslides, are typical natural disasters that occur mainly during the rainy season in Korea. To procure insufficient space, slopes have been developed rapidly since the 1970s. Recently, individual damage due to localized torrential rains caused by climate change is predominant rather than large-scale damage caused by typhoons. In Korea, there is a trend of shifting the paradigm of landslide countermeasures from recovery after damage to prediction and response before damage. However, an accurate prediction model of the mechanism of landslides has not been presented. Therefore, in this study, we tried to understand the effect of geomorphological changes on ground surface of steep slopes on the initial risk of landslides. Additionally, we checked whether they can be used for future landslide prediction and response work. The results confirmed that the planarity, which quantified geomorphological changes on the ground surface, can quickly and accurately monitor the behavior of the slope. Moreover, the results can be used as the basic data for initial landslide risk analysis. Additionally, we showed that the limitations inherent in the existing measuring equipment installed directly on the slope can be overcome. These achievements are expected to contribute to shifting the paradigm of landslide management from the current recovery-oriented to forecast-based.
