The Efficaciousness of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) Education for Elementary, Focused on Convergence in Arts -Focusing on Student Engagement in Art Subject-

초록

Experts on each field of study lay great stress on their own professionalism caused by complicated society and functional propensity. From this perspective, although experts on each field of studies have deeper knowledge about their professional field, the gap between each filed is arisen. Therefore, it needs to cultivate creative talented individuals through supplementing the gap. The STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts & mathematics) program has the aim to cultivate creative talented individuals through convergence education with science, engineering, arts, mathematics, and technology. However, nowadays, although STEAM program is recognized as an effective program to develop students’ problem-solving skill and a helper to improve students’ creative thinking ability, its educational programs are insufficient and are not used to apply in the practical field of education. Especially, the number of the programs focused on convergence in arts is insufficient compared with the programs focused on convergence in science and technology. The development provides general comprehension and the ability of application about humans, values, materials, environments and uses. As a result, the researcher believes that this program will expand the value of design and art education and attribute to cultivate creative talented individuals.
