초록

Korea has underwent an unprecedented fast social transition to the aging society. On top of this fast transition to the aging society, ‘baby-boomers’ in Korea are approaching to their retirement. This social transition casts a huge concern over sustainable economic growth in Korea. Economic activity generated by seniors are expected to play a major role in solving the challenges. Current research, however, approached this issue only through descriptive case study, mostly explaining a success ‘story’ of a particular case. Under this backdrop, we tried to find a major characteristics of senior ventures in Korea. As the first research of this kine, we used a massive dataset to properly represent Korean senior ventures. This research has approached in two part: first we analyzed and showed key features of Koran senior ventures. In addition, we selected a matching sample of more conventional ventures (venture by youth) and compared these two groups. This research is expected to contribute, empirically, to the policy issues concerning fast transition to the aging society, and theoretically, to our understanding on value creation by seniors.
