초록

Gobong　Gi Daeseung(奇大升, 1527∼1572) can't be missed in the discussion on the history of mentality in Korea. However, it is not too much to say that there is almost none who knows him at present. It's mainly because his short life broke his academic life. Another reason was the political system. He was ignored in the literary world by Toegye even thought he became prominent through Toegye. Furthermore, he was severely at feud with Yulgok. The animosity of Yulgok against the political view of Gobong was beyond what anyone could imagine. Thus, he was ignored by Toegye but excluded by Yulgok. He couldn't secure his position both in Dongin(Easteners) and Seoin (Westeners). A significant number of writers who knew Gobong participated in the army raised in the cause of justice. There is no data to accurately identify the number of such writers at present. However, a number of writers who were Gobong's acquaintance definitely died in the wars. The activities and publicity of disciples define their teachers' position in the society after the death of their teachers. The fact that there is none who can remind us of him accelerated his absence in the history of mentality in Korea. This paper proved that there were no more data on his acquaintances. It is required to find out why Gobong was completely forgotten before restoring his literary status. I hope the result of this paper will be the opportunity to throughly investigate his trace dispersed in the data of other writers.
