Understanding Acceptance of Cloud Computing Service: The Technology Acceptance Model considering Enjoyment, Risks and Consumer Attitudes

Cloud computing technology, one of the central technologies of the recent 4th industrial revolution, has been mainly used as enterprise computing infrastructure and comprehensive platform solutions. On the other hand, the spread to SaaS (Software as a Service), a cloud computing service for individuals, is relatively slow. Therefore, in this study, to understand the factors and mechanism of the acceptance for cloud computing services, a technology acceptance model (TAM), including enjoyment, risks, and consumer attitude, was proposed by reflecting the latest market trends and was empirically analyzed. For the data collection, online surveys were conducted to 1,600 respondents living in Seoul and other metropolitan areas in Korea by Gallup Korea from February to March 2020. As an estimation model, we employed the structural equation model(SEM) to examine core factors influencing individuals" adoption of cloud computing services. The estimation result shows that perceived enjoyment has a more significant effect on perceived usefulness, and variables function⋅security risk and function⋅price weight were found to be significant in the research model. Based on the estimation results, this study identified the mechanism of user acceptance for the cloud computing service and suggested empirical implications for building government policies and corporate strategy for the successful deployment of cloud computing services.
