"In order to understand the Caucasian war, it is necessary to study both sides, the political actions of General Emolov and the aspect of resistance, that is, the gazavat of the peoples in the North Caucasus. Gazavat in the North Caucasus was only part of the general rebellion of the mountaineers against tsarism. The Formalization of the Murid movement coincided with the period of systematic advance of Russian tsarism in Dagestan, when the general insurgent movement of the mountain people, being scattered, was forged by the murids under the flag of Muridism and Gazavat in the broad movement that it later became.
