초록

Objectives This study analyzed the structural relationships among counselors’ insecure attachment, emotional intelligence, the real relationship, and counseling satisfaction, with a focus on the mediating roles of emotional intelligence and the real relationship. Methods This study analyzed data from 397 counselors who had terminated counseling with at least one client and had received supervision at least once for the case, using structural equation modeling. Results The results of this study are as follows. First, anxious and avoidant attachment were significantly associated with emotional intelligence, the real relationship, and counseling satisfaction. Second, avoidant attachment negatively affected emotional intelligence and the real relationship. Third, avoidant attachment had indirect effects through emotional intelligence and the real relationship, whereas anxious attachment had an indirect effect through the real relationship. Conclusions The results of this study suggest that emotional intelligence and the real relationship play important roles in the process through which counselors’ insecure attachment influences counseling satisfaction. In particular, avoidant attachment lowered counseling satisfaction by sequentially weakening emotional intelligence and the real relationship, whereas anxious attachment influenced counseling satisfaction primarily through the real relationship.
