미국 대북담론 구조 연구: 대통령 화행을 중심으로

U.S. Discourse on North Korea through Presidential Speech Acts

초록

This study deals with the United States’ construction of uncertainty regarding post-Cold War identity and North Korea’s existential uncertainty. Reflecting on thirty years of U.S. discourse on North Korea since the end of the Cold War reveals an enduring ‘new Cold War’ era marked by persistent uncertainty. Utilizing securitization as a conceptual framework, the analysis focuses on U.S. discourse toward North Korea, employing content analysis of presidential speeches from George H. W. Bush to Donald J. Trump. By chronologically studying the speech acts of top U.S. policymakers, this analysis encourages a reassessment of mainstream perspectives that perpetuate the security dilemma.
