Wind velocity for natural ventilation design in Korea

The purpose of this study is to propose a set of wind velocity which can be used in natural ventilation in Korea houses, and also to verify its availability through a month measurement in a mock-up house. The cumulative probability distributions of velocity of 76 cities were modeled using the hourly wind data (1998~2007), and then they were corrected by a characteristic of surface roughness of each city. The average ventilation rate of the mock-up house during the measurement period was 1.25ACH, corresponding to 95% of the value which was calculated from the proposed wind velocity. And the average ventilation rates over 6 days were ranged at 98% of the designed ventilation, 1.32ACH.
