교사의 전문성 개발 활동이 교과 및 교수 전문성 향상에 미친 효과

초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of teacher's participation in professionaldevelopment activities on the improvement of subject knowledge and pedagogy in theclassroom. In particular, the present study categorized the types of teacher’s professionaldevelopment into traditional teacher training activities and collaboration among teachers withinschools. Then, the impact of each type on the improvement of subject knowledge and pedagogyin the classroom was investigated. The sample of this study was 2,933 teachers of 177 Koreanmiddle schools who participated in the OECD TALIS 2013. In this study, the 1,633 teachers'responses except for the missing data were analyzed by using multiple regression analysis. The results of the study revealed that teacher's participation in both traditional teacher trainingactivities and collaboration among teachers within schools were significantly associated withthe improvement of subject knowledge and pedagogy in the classroom. Specifically, the degreeof collaborative activities among teachers within schools was more significantly influential thantraditional teacher training activities on the improvement of subject knowledge and pedagogyin the classroom. The result of this study has an implication that it is necessary to make apolicy intervention in order to promote teacher collaboration within schools which can leadto the improvement of subject knowledge and pedagogy in the classroom.
