초록

This paper proposes an optimal sizing framework of energy storage system (ESS) that addresses the objectives of multi-stakeholders. With the escalation of the climate crisis, small-scale microgrids primarily powered by RES are attracting attention. In microgrids, the RES-based energy trading systems are actively operating to increase RES utilization, and the number of participating businesses is increasing. The ESS is crucial for managing the intermittency of renewable energy and maintaining stable supply and demand in microgrids dominated by RES. However, indiscriminate ESS installation can lead to decreased economic feasibility and system stability issues, so appropriate sizing calculation is essential. Therefore, this study proposes an optimal ESS sizing framework incorporates the objectives of energy trading system participants within a microgrid: the renewable energy power supplier (REPS), the energy storage operator (ESO), and electricity user (ELU). The proposed optimization framework adopts a multi-objective formulation using mixed-integer linear programming (MILP). It is compared with scenarios of single- and bi-objective optimization to verify the effects of the proposed method. The analysis showed that the proposed method can serve as an effective RES utilization strategy by determining ESS sizing that secures the economic feasibility of microgrid members.
