초록
Wonhyo(617〜686) is Buddhist priest and also Buddhologist in Silla dynasty, a kingdom of ancient Korea. He wrote more than 180 books in 87 different thema, which have exerted considerable influences not only on the Korean Buddhism but on the Chinese and Japanese Buddhism. And they have been constantly quoted in books of many religious dignitaries since the 7th century. Wonhyo was not only theorist with his original Hwajaeng buddhism merging various theories and points of dispute but a practical savior in tattered clothes for common people. Is comparative study possible among Hwajaeng buddhism of 7th century, Saussure and Heidegger on linguistic view? Three important themes in Saussure are the thinking of relation or difference beyond substantialism, interrelation between language and meaning or truth, language and its unconscious structure as langue. Therefore, in light of three themes, this paper performs comparative study on the linguistic views among Saussure, Heidegger, and Wonhyo. That means a dialogue between past and present, east and west, human science and Buddhism. 1.
