초록
Purpose: This study aims to examine the changes in the agenda related to visually impaired people in mass media and social media, and to find out the difference in the agenda depending on the characteristics of the medium. Method: All news articles and posts on blogs, cafes, and communities from 2011 to 2021 with the keyword “visual impairment” were collected from Korean portal sites, such as Naver, Daum, and Google Korea. Data collections were used for text mining, semantic network analysis, quadratic assignment problem correlation analysis, and clustering analysis. Results: First, social and institutional support for the visually impaired and the perspective of rehabilitation welfare (the individual model), such as the expansion of walking facilities, appeared as the representative agenda in the early and mid-2010s. Then, the viewpoint of independent living, with measures such as program development and expansion of convenience facilities (the social model), appeared as the representative agenda in the late 2010s. In the case of social media, sympathy and understanding for the visually impaired and based on technologies and services have emerged as the representative agendas since the mid- and late 2010s. Conclusion: As a result of examining the differences in agenda formation based on the characteristics of these media, the conclusion derived is that the agendas in mass media are focused on policies, infrastructure, technology, and services for the visually impaired, while the agendas on social media are focused on the emotional, such as understanding and the feeling of sympathy, and are related to real-life goods for the visually impaired.
