초록
Objectives This study aimed to investigate the mediating effect of authenticity on the relationship between performance anxiety and counselor self-efficacy, as well as whether self-focused reflection moderates this mediating effect among novice counselors. Methods Data were collected through a survey of 305 novice counselors who had at least one month and less than three years of counseling experience. To estimate the relationship between each variable, SPSS Statistic 26.0 and SPSS PROCESS Macro 4.0 were used to analyze descriptive statistical analysis, correlation analysis, mediating effect, moderating effect, and moderated mediating effect. Results The results of the data analysis are summarized as follows: First, authenticity mediated the relationship between performance anxiety and counselor self-efficacy. Second, the relationship between performance anxiety and authenticity was moderated by self-focused reflection. Third, the effect of performance anxiety on counselor self-efficacy through authenticity was found to be contingent on the level of self-focused reflection. Conclusions Specifically, novice counselors' performance anxiety lowered their level of authenticity, which in turn lowered their counselor self-efficacy, and this negative process was found to be exacerbated by the self-focused reflection. Based on these results, the implications and suggestions for future research are discussed.
