Enhanced Harmonic Current Controller Based on Multiple Synchronous Reference Frame Considering Saliency and Magnetic Flux Saturation of IPMSMs

This paper proposes a harmonic current controller based on multiple synchronous reference frames for controlling harmonic currents in motors with saliency and magnetic flux saturation. In this method, controllers for individual frequency currents are connected in parallel in a complex vector coordinate system. To ensure the stable response of the controller, it is designed to cancel the zeros and poles of the plant and resonant controller. Considering saliency of the IPMSMs, the controller gains are applied before rotating transformations into each harmonic synchronous reference frame. Considering magnetic flux saturation, the controller gains are designed using both dynamic inductance and apparent inductance. This controller can be used in the same form for motors even without saliency. The proposed controller was validated on a 17kW IPMSM with 6th harmonics in the synchronous reference frame, and improved performance was confirmed through current response.
