초록

Installation of in-line shaft generators increases to reduce CO2 emission in merchant ship propulsion systems. The shaft generator can have a surface permanent magnet rotor due to a short constant power speed range. This paper proposes a new design approach based on fixed induced voltage and phase angle shifting to consider the operating mode in the generator and motor. Induced voltage and torque pulsation on six NdFeB rotor topologies are compared to find the most suitable solution. In the skewed rotor, tapered and segmented magnet topologies show excellent performance in voltage harmonic and torque pulsation. The demagnetization analysis shows the stability of the permanent magnet in three-phase short-circuit condition. 2-D finite element analysis result on voltage harmonics has good agreement with the test result of a 5.5% difference.
