Forecast of Regional Water Demand in Korea: A Recursive Multi-Region Water CGE Modeling Approach

초록

Water is naturally given so that water must be efficiently used. Hence, the effective water management policy is of paramount importance. One thing to note is that water management policy must be region-specific because quantity of water supply varies among regions and demand structure for water also different. It implies that the forecast of regional water demand must be based on the regional characteristics. The model developed in this paper is a recursive multi-region computable general equilibrium model to forecast regional water demands in Korea. The forecasting results for water demand imply that Korea will experience the water-shortage in most regions for years to come.
