Effect of supersonic ion beams on the triple probe measurement

Although theory of the triple probe for a Maxwellian plasma is well known, analysis with ion beam has not been established. Plasma parameters by the triple probe with supersonic ion beams are distorted severely, especially for the electron temperature. Electron temperature is calibrated by solving the governing equations of the triple probe with inclusion of the beam currents to three probe tips. The corrected electron temperatures have been used for the deduction of the average flow velocities with Mach probe and laser induced fluorescence methods. Energy of ion beams varies from 70 to 370 eV with background plasma density 0f ~10^10 cm^-3 and temperature of ~8 eV
