The Restoration of the Spatial Structure of Sang-ju and Hwaryeong-gun in Silla

초록

In this paper, the spatial structure of Sang-ju and Hwaryeong-gun in Silla was discussed. First, through “Treatise on Geography,” Samguksagi, the gun-hyeon structure of the gun-level Sang-ju and Hwaryeong-gun during the Unified Silla period was restored. As the center of ju (state), Sang-ju’s administrative center formed a city, and a fortress (Jasansanseong) was built nearby to evacuate in case of emergency. The direct control area was relatively wide, and it had three prefectures: Cheonghyo, Dain, and Hwachang. Among them, the location of Hwachang-hyeon is not clear, but it was assumed to be in the direction of Oeseo-myeon. However, it is necessary to review the possibility of being in Naeseo-myeon or Oenam-myeon later. In addition, although it was not a data from the Unified Silla period, the station in Sang-ju and Hwaryeong-gun was reviewed to confirm that it was closely related to gun-hyeon. In order to understand the spatial structure of the gun-level Sang-ju and Hwaryeong-gun during the Three Kingdoms period, that is, Sabeol-gun and Dapdalbi-gun, the fortresses of this region during the same period were first examined. Excluding the fortresses built after the Goryeo Dynasty, fortresses of various types remain. Generally, fortresses on low hills and fortresses on high hills could be distinguished. In most cases, there was a castle on a low hill at the point presumed to be the center of gun-hyeon, and there was also a point where there was a fortress but gun-hyeon was not identified. In the case of Sabeol, there is Ibugoktoseong, but ancient tombs are distributed around Mt. Byeongpung. Byeongpungsanseong was identified that there is a possibility that it was added later. In the case of Eumnihwa (Cheongri), ancient tombs are distributed around the fortress on a low hill, but it is highly likely that Magongseong was also added later. In the case of Dapdalbi and Doryang (Jungmo), the condition of the fortress wall is not well known, but it is presumed that they played a key role in that they are located at key transportation points and have ancient tombs distributed around them.
