한국 문화콘텐츠산업의 성장과정에서 정부지원의 영향: 산업구조와 기업성과를 중심으로

This study examines how government support affects industrial structure and corporate performance in the expansion process of the cultural industry in South Korea. The role and impact of government support were empirically examined by analyzing surveys and performance data of 228 firms in the cultural industry. The key findings are as follows: First, while firms that did not benefit from government support maintained their market structure at the point of entry into the industry, the market structure formed by government subsidy beneficiaries changed significantly, with increasing similarity among firms by expanding connectivity among industrial sectors. This result demonstrates that firms receiving government support were isomorphized based on government policies, implying that the market structure can be differentiated into a dual-market structure depending on whether they receive government support. Second, government support delivered directly to cultural companies negatively affects corporate performance. These results suggest that indirect support methods such as creating infrastructure and strengthening industrial capacity are preferable for establishing government policies for the cultural industry.
