초록

The early budget execution has been driven in the perspective that not only the total amountof finance but also the execution time of finance can affect the economic growth. However,there have been contrasting views on the effect of the early budget execution. Furthermore, onlyfew studies empirically examined the effect of the early budget execution on the nationaleconomy. Considering that one purpose of the early budget execution is to vitalize localeconomy, it is required to empirically examine the effect of the early budget execution on localeconomic growth. To analyze the impact of the early budget execution on local economicgrowth, we estimate regression models which relate the total amount of finance and the earlybudget execution rate to gross regional domestic product, the number of businesses, and thenumber of workers. The regression results show that the total amount of finance has a positiveeffect, but the early budget execution does not have any statistically significant effect. The resultsalso show that all control variables except population density have statistically significant effectson local economic growth. The results imply that it is important to implement policy programsfor improving financial conditions and for driving local economic growth.
