The number of research institutes in South Korea has exceeded 40,000 through repeated quantitative growth, but 61% of research institutes have fewer than five researchers. was raised. In order to discover and nurture corporate research institutes with excellent research and development capabilities and technological innovation activities, the excellent corporate research institute designation system was introduced. The evaluation criteria of Outstanding Corporate R&D Center are largely composed of corporate competency, R&D center capability, and core technology competency. Therefore, Outstanding Corporate R&D Center can be defined as a company with excellent corporate R&D centers compared to other companies in financial performance, technical performance, R&D capability, technology commercialization capability, and external cooperation capability. The purpose of this research is to categorize the combination of variables with the above five abilities as causal variables, and to analyze the factors that determine which companies are selected by the Research Institute for Excellent Companies and which are not selected. To this end, we conducted a comparative analysis of 24 companies selected for the Research Institute for Excellent Companies and 24 unselected companies with similar industries, products, and asset sizes. For analysis of innovation and determinants of good firm laboratories, fuzzy collective comparative analysis (fs/QCA) suitable for a sample of medium-sized firms was used. As a result of the analysis, it was found that companies with relatively superior technical commercialization capabilities, external cooperation capabilities, and financial results are more likely to be selected as excellent company research institutes. In addition, it was found that the probability of non-selection is high when the technology commercialization ability is insufficient. This study is significant in that it analyzes the interaction effects of all variables that are expected to affect the dependent variables of the selection of excellent corporate research institutes, using samples of intermediate numbers that could not be analyzed academically. be. In addition, he proposed a policy direction that companies should support their ability to commercialize technology in order to develop general corporate research institutes into excellent corporate research institutes.
