Numerical Simulation for Run-up of Solitary Wave on Slopes

초록

An accurate analysis of incident waves around coastal structures is directly indispensable to the safety of those structures. Thus,a three-dimensional numerical model is strongly recommended to analyze wave transformation instead of a two-dimensionalmodel. In this study, a numerical model solves the space-filtered averaged Navier-Stokes equations. The LES approach is adoptedto model the turbulence effect by using the Smagorinsky SGS model. The solitary waves are probably most suitable incidentwaves representing behaviors of tsunamis and they can propagate a long distance without transformation. The maximum run-upheights of solitary waves attacking on slopes are investigated and the accuracy of the numerical model is checked by comparingthe laboratory measurements related to maximum run-up heights of solitary waves.
