BIM과 GIS 통합연구의 경향과 한계점 분석

While building Information Modeling(BIM) has been developed with a focus on the information of the building itself, Geographic Information System(GIS) has established as a system for building and analyzing outdoor geographic information as a database. In recent years, the use of location-based services such as map applications has increased, and as augmented reality technologies have evolved, the need for integration of BIM and GIS has been emphasized. However, there has been little efforts to evaluate the integrated research between BIM and GIS comprehensively. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate primary studies on the integration of BIM and GIS and to conduct quantitative bibliographical analysis. Then, this study aims to analyze research trends, find limitations of integrated research between BIM and GIS and provide implications for future studies. The quantitative bibliographical analysis has identified recent trends by examining the domestic and international journal papers conducted over the past 10 years, by year, by journal, and by topic. The main research trends and limitations of BIM and GIS integration research are as follows. First, only a few researchers were involved in the integrated studies of BIM and GIS, and research areas were limited in geography, spatial information, and technology. Second, it is not able to completely overcome the technical limitations in the integration process of BIM and GIS, and still causes problems such as information loss and errors. Third, although studies to reduce the time and cost incurred in big data processing are necessary, related studies have been progressing slowly. Fourth, there was a lack of concern about integrating BIM and GIS and applying it to the urban field.
