디지털 매체활용을 통한 무용표현 기법 변화에 관한 담론

초록

Due to huge ripple effect of digital media and rapid technological advances, flow of the dance performance art is undergoing radical changes. As a collective sense of art, dance can not ignore these aspects in the creative work. Current flow of modern society should be understood and it is absolutely required for choreographer to have a creative insight and idea that can cope with these radical changes. In this respect, it is necessary to review not only the theory of digital media but also definition and characteristic of digital media art. On top of that, it should be correlated to the dance performance art, which can define the new genre of dance performing arts. In the present paper, we studied the technical approaches necessary when virtually choreographed and the methods to come up with new idea and utilize digital media by analyzing the work, "Ataxia", which utilized the digital media based on the academical discussion and theory. Brief conclusion of this study is as follows. Choreographers utilizing digital media should use digital technology which is consistent with the aim and intent of individual work. Also, choreographers should motivate the dancers to concentrate on revitalization of the creative work through choreography program or research institute for the development of choreography method. In addition, it is urgent to develop high skilled manpower who can correlate visual media and computer graphic technology to dance performance art. Equally important and indicative is the fact that we can find the creative base of new work in the cyberspace, thus in-depth study on the availability of cyberspace should be conducted by suggesting the feasibility to solve the problems occurred on dance performing stage. Although there is no perfect solution in choreography method with digital media, it is expected that dance performance compliant with digital media era can be created and also, novel and aesthetic dance performance art which is not relying on the digital media but utilizing it can be integrated by continuous study.
