프랭크게리 건축의 색채사용 특성에 관한 연구 -현대미술과의 관계를 중심으로-

초록

(Background and Purpose)The extensive thinking through mutual interaction with modern art that is shown in modern architecture is an important tool for emotional factors and the era’s value system of architectural color. Frank O. Gehry, a modern architect, actively embraced modern art. This study looks into the meaning of the colors and the display- patterns in architecture in terms of the interface of modern art and architecture by studying the patterns of his design works. Moreover, the meaning of architectural colors for Gehry is analyzed by looking into their relations with modern art. (Method)In this study, through theoretical contemplation, the characteristics of colors focusing on the design works of the era along with the modern art are studied closely. The researchers then analyze the transition point of architecture through keywords and classifiy the architecture works of Gehry by each era. Then, the architectural characteristics are analyzed and organized, focusing on their relations with modern art. (Result)In his early period, his emphases on the expression of colors were based on the property of materials and the shape of objects. In the mid-period, he chose primary colors and colors that are preferable to public, influenced by pop-art. In his late-period, various and unique colors were appeared in his works due to the changes in his use of materials as a result of an adaptation of modern technologies.
