지각된 부모양육태도와 인터넷 사용동기가 인터넷 과다사용과의 관계

초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of perceived parenting attitude and motivations for internet use on internet overuse. In terms of the relationship between parenting attitude and internet overuse, results of this study showed that father's supervision and abuse significantly predicted internet overuse. Also, mother's supervision, rational explanation, overprotection, and abuse significantly affected internet overuse. Concerning the relationship between motivations for internet use and internet overuse, seeking for interaction, avoidance from reality, information use, sexual pleasure, and obsession significantly affected internet overuse. In addition, the interaction effects between perceived parenting attitude and motivations for internet use were found significant. That is, the effects of perceived parenting attitude on internet overuse varied based on the levels of motivations for internet use. The results of this study suggested that perceived parenting attitude and motivations for internet use should simultaneously be considered when counselors intervene people who excessively use internet. Implications for counseling for internet overuse and the limits of this study were discussed.
