초록

This study investigated Yi Gok’s path to Shangdu in 1345. As the preliminary work to discuss the path to Shangdu, this study summarized the relationship between Goryeo and Yuan Dynasty in mid 14th century, the life of Yi Gok, dual capital system during Yuan period and the traffic route between Dadu and Shangdu. There are four traffic routes between Dadu and Shangdu during Yuan period. Of them, Yi Gok used the postal road linking Juyongguan, Bada Ling, Chadaokou, Tongmuzhan, Qiangganling, Lilaogu, Diaokezhan, Longmenjia and Lilingtai. The experience of Yi Gok passing through this road and staying in Shangdu was expressed in 12 poems in 9 titles. The poems described the wonder and nostalgia of a tourist walking on a road in the northern region, the magnificent meadow extended in all directions, dignity of world empire and banquet culture of a royal family. Yi Gok’s journey to Shangdu is the individual experience as well as the trace in the history. Since Yi Gok created poems as travelling, the road became the cradle and background of Korean literature. This study reorganized the route and geography between Beijing at present to Zhenlanqi, Xilinguolemeng, Inner Mongolia as the domain of literature as well as the site of Korean history and investigated the experience and sentiments on that road.
