Instrumented nano-/micro-indentation techniques: Recent efforts for new applications

초록

Over the past 2 decades, instrumented indentation has been used to measure the various mechanical properties of the small-scale materials. While the technique is now widely used in various fields of research and industry, a lot of efforts are being made to explore the new field of applications. For example, nanoindentation technique is being considered not only as a characterizing tool but as an important processing tool for nano-imprinting/pattering and nano-machining/precision. In this talk, I would like to introduce some recent scientific efforts made for finding new applications of the indentation technique.
