『고영규전』의 서술 방식과 창작 기법에 관한 연구

초록

‘The Story of Ko Young-kyu’ was written in 1911 by Annie Baird who was missionary. So Far, scholars have studied Korea's politics, culture, and customs issues in the Japanese occupation period using the novel. Most of researchers considered it was a kind of records to know Korean culture and the influence of Christianity in the time of early twenty century. In the meantime, they were neglected how good is the novel’s literary achievement in itself. The novel is a creative fiction not historical Records. So focusing on this point, I describe how this work attempts to analyze and creative technique. we should read this novel as follows;Annie Baird wrote the novel named ‘Daybreak in Korea’ in 1909. But 2 years later, ‘The Story of Ko Young-kyu’ was written as the transformation of ‘Daybreak in Korea’. She wrote the second book using the main characters and the plot of the first book. When comparing the two novels, we find the writer's creative intentions. In the first novel, woman’s life was described for main stream, but for the second novel, ‘The Story of Ko Young-kyu’, the main character was a man not a woman. So far people have been reading this novel centered on a woman. But we have to read focus on man, Ko Young-kyu not a woman, Gil Bo-bae. Yes, the title itself. In the second novel, Annie Baird was deleted the first novel’s story of a man striking a woman, the story of the people who worship superstition. Instead, the emphasis on male lead Ko Young-kyu change under his leadership and with his family in good standing of the Christian faith and expressed his home state of change. And this is a creative fiction, so we have to observe its composition, rhetoric, and style of writing etc. She expressed serious reality, yet she has used a pleasant style. The surrounding natural objects are also described features of Christian truth. This is for low intellectual level readers with an easy-to-understand content creation techniques. In this way, the author of the popular Annie Baird and workmanship for a well-exposed point of this work is excellent. By doing so, we come to know how great this work is. Annie Baird used the question and answer method. So readers could be focused on a novel.
