Eco-efficiency is a consistent tool towards the transition to sustainable development, applied to all business aspects and linked to the economic and environmental performance of the system to find the most efficient alternatives. Meanwhile, carbon dioxide, the main cause of greenhouse gases, is also generated when a vehicle is running, during the vehicle manufacturing process, and during the production of fuel and electricity. Therefore, the direction of environmental regulations is expanding to full-process regulations that encompass the life cycle of products, including production, use, disposal, and recycling. However, existing studies on the eco-efficiency of automobiles are limited, and studies that consider the life cycle are difficult to find. In this study, we proposed a method to evaluate the eco-efficiency of eco-friendly vehicles considering the life cycle. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that the DEA evaluation method considering the life cycle can reliably distinguish between efficient and inefficient vehicles and suggest benchmarking targets and paths for each stage of the life cycle to improve eco-efficiency for inefficient vehicles.
