서울 영화관의 디자인특성 변천 연구

초록

As Korea had been undergoing many changes, Seoul also has been developed very quickly in every phase of construction & culture as well as economics & society owing to the industrialization. And there has been the rapid growth in the theater space which is the center of culture with advance in economy and society. The development of cultural space with culture can be a motive to be able to gather many spectators and furthermore, can bring about a great improvement. Therefore, this research targeted cinemas, the center of Korean theater culture, collected data through research methods such as a documentary survey, a video record survey, a website survey, and an on-site inspection, and then analyzed the change of design characteristics of the cinemas. Time periods of the analyzed theaters ranged from early 1900’s until the present, and were placed into five chronological categories: early period multi-plex theater, professional cinema, mega single film cinema, multiple film cinema, and multi-plex film cinema. The analysis design elements were divided into interior and exterior and then re-categorized by structural and decorational design, after which they were defined according to theory and analyzed based on the cinema design characteristic changes. During the introductory period before the independence, the cinemas had decorational factors influenced by Westerners and the Japanese. However, they became progressively simpler in decoration as they grew more massive in size, and the space without conformist characteristics changed to become more audience-oriented according to convenience and taste. This research intends to provide basic design data for theaters in Seoul, to inspire the conception of a diverse range of theaters, and to be a foundation for the development of cultural spaces.
