A Comparative Study on the Factors of Aging Friendly city Environment for improve quality of life in the Korean and American Elderly

초록

For the elderly, the residential environment is a physical and mental living area formed by interaction with people along with the location of the house, and directly or indirectly affects values and behavior. Therefore, improving the residential environment so that the elderly can live in the community is related to the welfare service system as well as the quality of life of the elderly. Therefore, this study was investigated using AARP's resident-centered old-age urban environment evaluation tool to identify what the elderly consider to be important factors of physical old-age-friendly living environment and to compare and study the differences between the elderly in Korea and U.S. As a result, it was found that the important factors influenced among the factors of the physical elderly-friendly living environment for the elderly had a significant influence on the factors of "sufficiency of public places to exercise", "resident at appropriate housing cost" and "audio-visual crosswalk". Therefore, important factor that should be improved among the elderly-friendly living environments so that the elderly can live in the community even in their old age is to stabilize housing costs and secure accessible public places to promote and maintain health.
