The Mediation Effect of Basic Psychological Needs Satisfaction in the Relationship Between Perfectionist Self-Presentation and Social Anxiety

초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the moderating effect of basic psychological needs satisfaction in relationship between perfectionistic self-presentation and social anxiety in college students. To verify this, the survey was conducted on 339 university students through PSPS-K, Basic Psychological Needs Scale in korea style, IAS. The data from 339 undergraduates were examined by using SPSS 25 program. The results of this study say the followings. Through this study, the moderating effect of ‘need for competence’ and ‘need for relatedness’among the sub-variables of basic psychological needs were confirmed. under the condition where satisfaction of ‘need for competence’is high, social anxiety increases as 'Nondisplay of Imperfection' increases. And as the level of satisfaction of ‘need for relatedness’ is high, social anxiety increases as 'Nondisplay of Imperfection' decreases. Based on these results, the implications for counseling scene and limitations of this study and suggestions for follow-up research are discussed.
