초록

It is definitely a scripture that has been playing the pivotal roles for a long time in the literature classification system in East Asia. Scriptures tried to control or specify the histories and poetry was considered as a negligible part of scriptures. The history was recognized as more authoritative and official existence than poetry. it means that the edification philosophy of the ruling class had the priority to the historical events in accordance wit the political(ethical) criteria and the historical events, the mirror of government, were more emphasized than the inner side of an individual. However, the basis for such classification was not clearly defined. Scriptures, histories and poetry were generated from the same source in the ancient times. Since then, there was the philosophical attempt to deny the absoluteness of scriptures and put them into the category of history. In particular, the percentage of histories tended to be increased in the 18th and 19th century. Some intellectuals insisted that scriptures were histories. It was the results from the effort to newly recognize the universal and unchangeable value rule as a part of world of experience. It is the affirmation to the individual and changeable world of experience and the negation to the absolute value rule. In this theory, the words of Confucian and the contents of six scriptures were only a part of history at that time. There was a movement to eliminate or make the boundary between poetry and history obscure. It was the movement to expand the world of experience into the inner side of a human being and the resistance against the exclusive authority of history. It contained the possibility that anyone's life could be the history. Hong Gyeongmo was one of those scholars insisting the philosophy above. This paper investigated the history and status of Hong Gyeongmo's insistence and the meaning in the modern times.
