초록
This paper discusses the unique research career of Maria Goeppert Mayer, the second woman to win the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1963. Despite beginning as an independent research in her 40s and being appointed as a professor at a later age, she won the Nobel Prize in Physics. This achievement cannot be explained solely by her exceptional scientific competence. Previous studies have attributed it to her feminine charm and the support of male scientists. This research, however, focuses on Mayer’s background as an immigrant from Germany and aims to explain her scientific accomplishments from the perspective of solidarity with other minority scientists who immigrated from Europe.
