Reduction of the Pressure Pulsation of a Reheat Attemperator Piping System

초록

A number of sources such as pump generate vibrations which can propagate along the piping system. These vibrations can cause two main problems, namely mechanical fatigue and radiated noise. The vibration and noise of the reheat attemperator piping system strongly coupled with pressure pulsation excited by boiler feedwater pump. In normal operating condition, the temperature control valve of the piping system is closed so that a quarter-wave length acoustic resonance field forms in the fluid filled piping system. When pressure excitation is generated by pump at the vane passing frequency equal to the acoustic resonance frequency in the piping system, the amplication of the pulsation occur and excessive vibrations can be induced. This study describes the prediction of the pressure pulsation that induces vibration and reduction of the fluid pressure pulsation of applying a passive pulsation damper.
