Group II metal b-diketonate Complexes with Polyamine Donor Ligands: Synthesis and Structural Characterizaton of [M(thd)2(L)]n (M=Ba, Sr); L= Polyamine; n=1~2) Complexes

There has been a great deal of interest in the syntheses of group II metal b-diketonatecomplexes (particularly Ba, Sr), because they have been used as promising MOCVD precursors for perovskite type metal oxides and ceramic superconductors. In this work, the synthesis and characterization of a new family of volitile [M(thd)2(L)n] (M=Ba,Sr; L=diethylenetriamine,triethylenetetramine,tetraethylenepentamine,tris(2-aminoethyl)amine; n=1~2) complexes are described. All complexes were obtained in a high yield from the reaction of [M(thd)2]x with polyamines in THF and structurally characterized by the x-ray crystallography.Thermogravimetric analyses show that all complexes are suffficiently volatile and thermally stable in the vapor phase.
