고려인 예술가의 정체성과 확장성에 대한 소고 ― 아나톨리 김의 ‘민족’ 담론과 ‘인류’ 담론을 중심으로

By examining the literary works of Anatoli Kim, a Russian-language writer and the third generation of Korean immigrants to the Soviet Union, this study reviews on the current state of identity in Koryo-saram works and reflects their possibility to broaden the horizon in the 21st century. It also sheds light on his personal experiences, philosophies and ideas that shaped his worldview to figure out why he chose the globalist narratives, which is directly related to the wholeness of humanity, as the ground of his works, over the narrow nationalist ones. The study views the dynamics between Anatoli Kim’s ‘globalism’ and ‘national consciousness’ as the centrifugal and centripetal forces of his literary world. So, it focuses on Konstantin Tsiolkovsky and Teilhard de Chardin among many Eastern and Western thinkers whose philosophical concepts appear substantially in his works. The reason for choosing the two among many of the philosophers whose books Anatoli Kim had read is that they represent thinkers with whom he naturally resonated in the process of growing humanity expanding from the ideology of a Korean people in a foreign land. What we now need to do as a new step in the study of ‘Koryo-saram literature’ is to objectively trace the ways in which the third-, fourth-, and fifth-generations of the Korean immigrants who are Russian-language writers fuse their ethnic identity with Russian and Central Asian literature, and even with world literature. In other words, the study aims to broaden the horizons of Korean literature by exploring their literary output which is driven by the experience of overcoming a lot of hardships as the descendants of Korean diaspora, strangers in the public or private education and their own life, and by examining the contextual background that shapes their worldviews and the significance of their literary contributions. Koryo-saram literature embracing the pain of the Korean diaspora is almost 100 years old. If we do not consider the tradition of ‘Koryo-saram literature’ and the possibility to broaden the horizons of their literature, we will block the possibility for our literature to be a ‘hybrid’ one by fusing with various cultures and arts of the world.
