디자인 가이드라인 관점에서의 피맛길의 생성과 비인지적 특성에 대한 연구

초록

This study focuses on Pima-gil, a narrow alley on either side of Jongno, which has been the center of Seoul for 600 years. This place, which holds the historical traces of the city, has been criticized for not leaving any traces as redevelopment began in earnest in the early 2000s. In order to maintain the uniqueness of a place, it is necessary to understand the architectural attributes of its interaction with the surrounding environment, so this research aims to study the historical background of Pima-gil and the surrounding urban organization. This study examines the spatial characteristics and phenomena of Pima-gil, which has lost many sections due to redevelopment, by collecting data from its creation to its decline and redevelopment, focusing on the development process. To do so, I examined documents from the Joseon Dynasty, old maps, excavation drawings, and photographs from the Japanese colonial period. I also examined how the city has changed according to the redevelopment design guidelines. Seoul has a long history, from which we derived that Pima-gil is a non-cognitive transition space and a place characteristic of fine-grained organization. However, in the Seoul Redevelopment Design Guidelines, we found that the physical characteristics of ‘narrow streets’ were not comprehensively reflected and only the physical characteristics of ‘narrow streets’ were maintained, which occurred organically in conjunction with the surrounding urban organization. Seoul’s small urban organizations are transforming into large urban organizations as the city redevelops. In order to preserve Seoul’s history and sense of place alongside development and growth, it is necessary to deeply understand and explore urban organizations and their surrounding context from a design perspective and establish design guidelines based on this.
